Key Concepts

Understanding these core concepts will help you get the most out of Asky.

Workspace

A Workspace is the top-level account in Asky. It contains your brands, team members, billing, and everything you create. Think of it as your company or agency account. If you manage multiple brands, they all live within one workspace.

RolePermissions
Owner / AdminFull access, including billing and team management
MemberAccess to all features except billing and team management

Each workspace has one Owner, the person who created it. Owners and Admins have the same permissions.

Brand

A Brand is the company, product, or entity you monitor in AI search. Each brand has its own profile (name, aliases, description, audience, domains, voice, and competitors), and all of its prompts, content, and opportunities live under it.

Competitor

A Competitor is a brand you benchmark against in AI search. Asky tracks how often competitors appear in AI answers and suggests new ones to track. Manage them in the Competitors tab of your Brand Profile.

Topic

A Topic is a theme or product area you want to be known for. Topics group related prompts and structure your AI visibility tracking. Examples include “CRM software,” “project management tools,” or “sustainable clothing.” Topics are organized alongside your Prompts.

Prompt

A Prompt is a question sent to AI search engines, like “What is the best CRM for startups?” Asky runs your prompts on a schedule and records the answers. See Prompts.

Response

A Response is the answer an AI search engine returns to a prompt. Each response includes the full text, the engine that produced it, the citations it used, the brands it mentioned, and the sentiment toward your brand. See Responses.

Citation

A Citation is when an AI response references a source. Asky tracks which websites and pages get cited so you can see who AI trusts in your space. See Citations.

Core Metrics

MetricWhat It Measures
VisibilityHow often your brand is mentioned across monitored responses
Share of VoiceYour slice of all brand mentions compared to competitors
Citation RateHow often monitored responses link to your website
SentimentHow favorably AI describes your brand, from 0 to 100 where 50 is neutral
RankYour typical position when AI lists brands, where lower is better
VolumeThe real monthly search demand behind a prompt’s keywords, shown as a tier from Niche to Very high

AI Crawler

An AI Crawler is a bot that AI companies use to access web content. Different crawlers serve different purposes.

Live retrieval crawlers (like ChatGPT-User) indicate that an AI is fetching your content in real time to answer a user’s question. This is different from background training crawlers. See Crawler Logs.

Opportunity

An Opportunity is a recommended action that improves your AI visibility. Asky groups opportunities into four families: Content, Third Party, Engagement, and Technical. See Opportunities.

Task Tracker

The Task Tracker is where you manage the opportunities your team has chosen to act on, across every category, in a table or a board. See Task Tracker.

Workflow

A Workflow is a background job Asky runs for you, such as generating content or auditing your website. You can follow its progress and open the result when it is ready.

Brand Knowledge

Brand Knowledge is your private library of reference documents, such as voice guides, product specs, and case-study results. Bring them into a content workflow so your content sounds like you and reflects your own facts. See Brand Knowledge.

Brand Alignment

Brand Alignment shows how AI search engines describe your brand and flags where their claims drift from your messaging, checked against the facts you define. See Brand Alignment.

Connection

A Connection is an integration with an external platform.

PlatformWhat It Provides
Google Search ConsoleSearch query data and faster indexing
Bing WebmasterFaster Bing indexing
Google AnalyticsTraffic and engagement data
WordPressContent publishing
WebflowContent publishing
RedditSocial discovery and engagement

Credits

Each plan includes a monthly pool of credits. Credits are used when Asky does work for you, such as generating content, running site audits, discovering social opportunities, and translating content. You can see your balance in the Usage tab of your workspace settings.
