Page Title
The <title> element: your page’s headline in search results and often its name when an AI assistant cites it.
- More than one page title: The page’s head holds two or more title elements, so the title search engines use may not be the one you edited.
- Page title identical to the H1: The page title and the main heading use exactly the same words, so the page spends two chances to describe itself on one phrase.
- Page title missing or empty: The page has no title in its head, or the title is empty, so search results and browser tabs have no name you chose for it.
- Page title outside the head: A title element sits in the page body, usually because a stray element closed the head early and pushed the title and other metadata out.
- Page title over 561 pixels wide: The page title is estimated to be wider than 561 pixels, so a search result is likely to show only its first part.
- Page title over 60 characters: The page title runs past 60 characters, so search results are likely to cut it off before the reader reaches the end.
- Page title under 30 characters: The page title is shorter than 30 characters, which leaves room unused to say what the page offers and who it is for.
