Meta Description
The meta description: the summary search results often show under your title.
- Meta description missing or empty: The page has no meta description, or an empty one, so search engines build its snippet from page text alone.
- Meta description outside the head: The page’s meta description sits in the body instead of the head, so search engines may ignore it and pick their own snippet.
- Meta description over 155 characters: The meta description is longer than 155 characters, so a search snippet built from it is likely to end in an ellipsis.
- Meta description over 985 pixels wide: The meta description is estimated to be wider than 985 pixels, so a snippet built from it is likely to be cut short.
- Meta description under 70 characters: The meta description is shorter than 70 characters, leaving room to tell searchers what the page offers and why to click.
- More than one meta description: The page has two or more meta description tags, so search engines have to choose one, and it may not be the text you wrote.
