Alt text: the description search engines, screen readers and AI systems read in place of an image.

  • Images with empty alt text: One or more images that may carry meaning have an empty alt attribute, so screen readers skip them and search engines get no description.
  • Images without an alt attribute: One or more images have no alt attribute at all, so screen readers may read out the file name and search engines get no text description.
