Competitors

AI search engines rarely name one brand. They name a handful, and the set they choose is your real competitive landscape. The Competitors section shows who else shows up alongside you, how you compare on every metric, and which topics and sources decide the outcome.

Accessing Competitors

Go to AI SearchCompetitors in the sidebar. The section has three views: Overview, Head-to-Head, and Manage.

Everything except Manage responds to the filter bar at the top of the page, so you can narrow any comparison by date range, topic, sub-topic, AI model, location, tag, or funnel stage.

Overview

Overview is the whole field at once.

  • The trends chart plots you against the competitors you select, so you can see who is pulling ahead over time. Switch the metric to compare on Visibility, Share of Voice, Citation Rate, Sentiment, or Average Rank.
  • Competitor Rankings lists every tracked brand next to your own. Choose which metric columns to show and reorder them, sort by any column, and click a brand to add its line to the trends chart. Hover a row and pick the crossed swords to jump straight into a head-to-head.
  • Competitive Landscape places every brand on a quadrant, so you can see at a glance who is strong, who is weak, and how far each one moved since the previous period.
  • Competitive Fingerprint overlays brands across all your metrics at once, which makes different shapes of strength easy to spot. Two brands with the same visibility can look nothing alike here.
  • Momentum ranks who gained and who lost against the previous period, so a shift shows up before it becomes a gap.
  • Funnel Stage Coverage shows who owns which part of the buying journey. Being strong on comparison questions and absent on early research questions is a very different problem from the reverse.
  • Topic Coverage Map is a heat map of every topic against every brand. Select any cell to open the prompts behind it, then open a prompt to read the answers themselves.
  • Where Competitors Get Cited shows which websites cite you, which cite your competitors, and which cite both. Select a row to see the exact pages.

The metric columns you choose in Competitor Rankings follow you around. The trend chart, the landscape quadrant, the funnel view, and the Dashboard rankings table all offer the same metrics in the same order, so the numbers never disagree between screens.

Head-to-Head

Head-to-Head narrows everything to you against one rival. Pick a brand from the switcher at the top, or arrive directly from the crossed swords on any rankings table.

CardWhat It Tells You
Trend chartYour line against theirs, day by day, on whichever metric you pick
ScorecardEvery core metric side by side, so you can see where the gap actually is
Where You Win by TopicThe topics where you beat them and the ones where they beat you, largest gap first
Prompt BattlegroundThe prompts only you win, the ones you both appear in, and the ones only they win
Source BattlegroundThe websites citing you, citing them, and citing both

The prompts and topics here are live, not summaries. Select any of them to read the underlying answers, with the whole view already narrowed to the two of you.

The “only they win” column of the Prompt Battleground is the most actionable list in Asky. Those are questions your competitor already answers for buyers and you do not, which makes them the clearest place to point your next piece of content.

Manage

Manage is where you decide which brands to track. For each competitor you can:

  • Add it by name and website, or accept one of the brands Asky suggests
  • Set the tracked name and add aliases, so alternative names and spellings are counted as the same brand
  • Apply tags, so you can filter your reporting to a group of rivals
  • Turn tracking on or off, or remove it entirely

Use Bulk Edit to tag, track, untrack, or remove several competitors at once.

Use the shortest unique form of a competitor’s name, then add the variations as aliases. For tricky cases, Advanced: Regex lets you match a pattern instead, with options for case sensitivity and for requiring the competitor’s domain to appear on the page.

Suggested competitors

Asky watches which brands keep appearing next to yours in AI answers and on the pages those answers cite, then recommends the ones you are not tracking yet. Recommendations appear as cards at the top of Manage, each with the evidence behind it, and you can Track or Dismiss them one by one. Dismissed brands are not suggested again.

Choose Add CompetitorSuggest me more to see the full list and to run a fresh scan on demand. A scan takes about a minute.

Track your real rivals, not every brand that appears. Each tracked competitor is compared against you everywhere in Asky, so a focused set produces a much sharper read than a long one.
