Sitemap
Your XML sitemap lists the pages you want crawled. These issues cover sitemaps that are missing, broken, empty, too large or out of date.
- Every lastmod date in the sitemap is over a year old: Every dated page in a sitemap was last modified more than a year ago, which points to frozen dates or content nobody has updated.
- Sitemap exceeds the 50,000 URL or 50 MB limit: A sitemap lists more than 50,000 URLs or is larger than 50 MB, past the limits search engines accept for a single sitemap file.
- Sitemap has no lastmod dates: No page in a sitemap carries a lastmod date, so crawlers cannot tell which pages changed and need a fresh visit.
- Sitemap is not a readable XML sitemap: A sitemap URL returns something other than an XML sitemap, or lists entries with no page URL, so crawlers cannot use all of it.
- Sitemap is not listed in robots.txt: Asky found a sitemap that no Sitemap line in your robots.txt points to, so crawlers that rely on robots.txt may never find it.
- Sitemap lists no pages: A sitemap loads but lists no pages, or a sitemap index lists no sitemaps, so it gives crawlers nothing to find.
- Sitemap not found: Asky could not load an XML sitemap, either anywhere on your site or at a sitemap URL that your robots.txt or Asky lists.
- Sitemap returns a server error: A sitemap URL answers with a 5xx server error, so crawlers cannot read the list of pages it holds until it works again.
