Empty Robots.txt
What This Means
Your site publishes a robots.txt file, but it is blank. The file itself is harmless when empty, and crawlers read it as “everything is allowed”. What it costs you is the one line that matters most for AI search: an empty file cannot point crawlers at your sitemap, so every engine has to guess where your pages are.
What Triggers This Issue
This issue is triggered when a request to /robots.txt returns a success status with an empty body (no rules, no comments, no Sitemap directive). It replaces the “Missing Robots.txt” finding for this case: the file exists and is reachable, it simply says nothing.
How To Fix
Add a Sitemap directive to the file you already have, for example: Sitemap: https://example.com/sitemap.xml . If your site is on Webflow, Wix or a similar builder, the robots.txt is edited in the SEO section of your site settings. Add crawl rules only if you actually need them; a robots.txt containing nothing but a Sitemap line is a perfectly good one.
